Charleen Dahms (*1995 in Berlin) lives and works in Buckow, Brandenburg and Berlin.
She studied Art, Geography and Educational Science at the University of Greifswald, completing her First State Examination in 2023 with a focus on photography under Prof. Rozbeh Asmani.
In her artistic practice, she explores personal and psychological themes rooted in her own experiences, relationships and family history. At the same time, her work addresses emotions and states of mind that resonate more broadly. She seeks to capture a specific sense of being — moments situated between change, intimacy, and reflection. Through her use of color, light, and subject matter, she aims to translate emotional nuances into visual form.
Analog techniques and her interest in photobook design had been always present in her work. She has self-published several photobooks and zines, including handmade dummies.
Her photographs have been shown in Greifswald, Rostock, Dresden, and Ahrenshoop. Dahms is a member of the Brandenburg Association of Visual Artists (bbk) and has been awarded several artist residencies, e.g. at the Kuenstlerhaus LUKAS in Ahrenshoop. Her upcoming publications "No Past Land" and "We are now(here)" were released in 2025 in HAPTIK Magazine and in the book Caspar.reloaded.
